Clay Creations by Susan Blalock

Susan Blalock stopped by today with some new clay works...pictured is a sample of some of the fun items.  I love the new lambys she made for the holidays.  Also, check out "Gnomie" and "Elfie"...doesnt they just make you think of the Rock City visits when you were young?!?!  For those of you who don't know her, Susan is a local artist who has been making wonderful clay creations for over 30 years.  Please stop by and check out her latest work!

Art Arrives in Virginia!

We happily hang art purchased locally or go help clients find a place for a piece they've fallen in love with.  I love knowing where a piece we loved and selected for the gallery ends up!  We shipped this 48" square piece by Melissa Payne Baker out last week on a long journey to Virginia. It arrived safely yesterday and the happy owner immediately hung it and texted us this pic.  LOVE IT!!!

(Thank you to Jordan at the Hixson UPS location for helping us get it there safely and under the freight requirement!  You were a life saver after our other experience!!!!)

So, we'll have a board with updated scores and "footballish" food.  As always, we're opening our Annual New Works show.  Stop by the gallery and we'll have current scores, drawings for prizes, signups for workshops, registration for Wet Canvas, and plenty of fabulous art to shop for!  We're starting at 2 and ending at 9!  Don't parking behind our building.

Painting, painting and more painting!

Oh boy, it is soooo crazy busy at the gallery.  I decided to repaint the little side walls yesterday a little sprucing up for the Gallery Hop next weekend.  Thought I'd knock it out before we opened....well, I forgot how busy labor day weekend is!  Happily forgot!  Before I had paint cans open, I had a client knocking on the door needing a birthday gift quickly.  It didn't stop.  I looked like a crazy lady in splattered paint clothes all day.  But, we had a great time and met so many nice people including tourists from Minnesota, Alabama, Georgia, and Indiana folks who've just moved here.  All around great day!  I'm heading over now to get an early start on the wall painting.  Stop by today if you have a chance...there are new paintings propped everywhere for the show we open next weekend.  Its jumbly, messy and very comfy there but you can get first pick of the new work!

Kim Barrick - Still Life in Oils Workshop - October 2010

Kim Barrick and I finalized her October workshop we had to reschedule from May.  It is Thursday through Saturday, Oct 7-9. Class will be from 9-4 (1 hour break for lunch) each day. We are holding a get-to-know-you social Thursday from 4-6 with wine and cheese for Kim and class participants.

This workshop is focused on still life in oils. If you've seen Kim's work, you know it is wonderful! Best of all she gives a lot of technical information.  I've heard all great reviews on her teaching style too! She will do a short demo at least 2 days, critique on Satuday after lunch. Cost is $350.

(I'll be taking the class too...we'll learn a ton and have a blast!)  This class is limited to 8 participants so call me to sign up 423.648.0533!

Class supply list can be found at
Also, we have enough easels and tables for everyone at the gallery.

We're so excited to introduce Atlanta artist Melissa Payne Baker to Chattanooga.  Melissa brought new paintings yesterday for the annual New Works show that we open on Gallery Hop day! The pictures don't do them justice!  They are beautiful and have wonderful texture too.  Stop by the gallery if you have a chance for a sneak peak.  Of course, there are paintings propped everywhere as we are recieving work daily for the Hop!
