Getting Ready for AVA's Annual Gallery Hop!

Busy, busy here!  Mom and I have been meeting artists almost everyday getting the artwork gathered for the gallery hop. (Dont forget....Sept 11 from 2 - 9!)  This morning we're heading over to Erin Chapin's studio to check out her new work.  She's been incredibly popular for us this summer!  I'm looking forward to seeing what she has ready for the fall.  I'll post some new images here and on facebook.

We've already received work from Susan Doubleday, Toby Penney, Georgia Nagle and Jo Ann Bracey.  Georgia and Jo Ann are both showing some work with a new twist.  Susan brought new pastels and collage (check out "Looking for Dinner" above - I love it!!!)  I'm looking forward to getting the reaction from all the new work!

Lisa Staggs & Erin Chapin in the Chattanooga Times Free Press

I hope everyone saw the Arts section in Sunday's Chattanooga Times Free Press!  Great article by Ann Nichols on the summer show.  We got Erin's paintings last week and Lisa brought hers yesterday.  I can't wait to get them hung.  Erin brought several new pieces from her bird series.  She'll be bringing in new pieces from her koi series in the next couple of weeks.  I'm looking forward to seeing these!  Lisa brought new pieces painted in Sequatichie Valley.  Her paintings are lovely and I love the frame selection.  Stop by and take a peak!

Another note....The funny thing about the presentation in the paper is that Lisa's piece is a 5x7 and Erin's is a 24x36....

American Style magazine ranks Chattanooga in top 5 Art Cities!

Chattanooga is #4 on the list of top 25 mid-size cities for art in American Style magazine!  We've come a loooong way!  Check out the link to see our blurb and the other cities that made it....American Style magazine.

Just the other day, I was talking to another gallery owner on the NorthShore.  With us, Plum Nelly, My Color Image Gallery, Winder Binder Folk Art Gallery, In-Town Gallery, Bill Shores Gallery, AVA, Allied Arts, and Smart Furniture (they feature local artists in addition to their way cool furniture) we have a Northshore Art District.  Way cool!

Spring has sprung on the Northshore!

Well, we can tell spring has sprung as we had many non-locals in the last several days!  We had sales to Iowa and Canada just yesterday...I love knowing our local art will be hanging and being worn all over the country and world!  Dave and I have seen lots of great art lately.  We just added local artist Erin Chapin (her birds are wonderful!) last week.  And, I hope to be able to introduce a new artist we just discovered in the next couple of weeks....stay tuned....her work is totally different and fabulous!

Dont forget to stop by if you missed Northshore Night Out.  We have a wonderful new show hanging!
